VERTEBRATES Animals with backbone are called vertebrates. All vertebrates have an internal skeleton that is made up of many bones. Some vertebrates are viviparous, like dogs and human beings. Other vertebrates such as frogs, birds and lizards are oviparous. Nearly all vertebrates have limbs such as feet, wings and fins. The main set of bones are joined together making up the spinal column or backbone. Commonly the bodies of vertebrates can be split into head, body and limbs. The internal skeleton supports the body by helping it to move and stay upright. We can classify the vertebrates in five groups:             Mammals             Birds             Reptiles             Amphibians             Fish  INVERTEBRATES Animals that do not have a back bone are called invertebrates. Besides, all invertebrates have one thing in common: they are oviparous. We can classify invertebrates in six groups:             Arthropods             Sponges
